comparison of 2D & 3D numerical simulation on flow past cylinders
I am trying to model bundled conductors(a type of transmission lines) under attack of powerful wind as air flow past cylinders at a moderate Re (500<Re<10000,sub-critical region). The aspect ratio of these conductors is bigger than 1000.
so here is my question: Is it practicable to carry out a 2D numerical simulation using fluent without introducing too large a error (such as drag/lift coefficient) because of ignoring its 3D effect? can I get correct flow pattern ,velocity distribution and drag/lift coefficient ? |
