Default Questions about NASA-VOF2D/SOLA-VOF

It seems that NASA-VOF2D and SOLA-VOF have a little different algorithm for claculation of PETA in the subroutine PETACAL. This is in the first step for claculation of PETA.

NASA-VOF2D: in Line PETACAL 818-IF (NF(L,M). NE.0) PETA(I,J) = 1.0. The following 4 lines indicate that only when NF(I,J) = 1,2,3 or 4, the rest codes are executed. SOLA-VOF: in Line 1415- IF (BETA(L,M).LT.0.0) PETA(I,J) = 1.0. And at all conditions, the rest codes are executed.

Do these two alogrithm have the same results? Which one is better? Thanks!
