The notion of "white" refers to a particular form of the frequency spectrum. If I remember right, white noise exhibits a continuous, wide range of frequencies with uniform power (or amplitude?), i.e. each frequency from 0 to infinity contributes equally to white noise. You won't hear any distinct sound out of this noise. I am guessing that the name "white" is in analogy to light: White light consists of a continuous range of frequencies between (not including) UV and infrared.
How are you using this for CFD? |

Sometimes the term white noise and pink noise are used by authors in papers on turbulence ( some that i have come across).A good explanation of different noises is provided in wikipedia.
