Is it possible to simulate fluid between to surfaces?
Hi, sorry for my bad english.
I'm doing a school project and I have never worked with cfd before. My question is if it is possible to simulate fluids between two metal surfaces? I'm simply keeping one side wet and I'm interested in seeing how long it takes before the other side is wet too. The time should depend on the surface and the pressure between the surfaces. The fluid I'm using has a very low viscosity. Our school is currently using Autodesk CFD 2014. Thank you in advance |
I would be very thankful if somebody could help me :/

I am not a specialist in this kind of problem, but isint it easier to solve this problem analytically or semi-analytically without cfd? Will you have something like a Hele-Shaw flow between the plates?

Also look for "free boundary" or "moving boundary" Hele-Shaw flow or Hele-Shaw cell.
Everything in this problem is reduced to the dynamic of the boundary only: In your case it could be enough to determine constant in the Darcy law and then get speed of the boundary and time you are looking for. |
