dear all,

i m a undergraduate student of mechanical engineering in bangladesh university of engineering and technology(BUET). i m interested to do my 4 th year thesis in the field of CFD. would u be kind enough to help me providing some idea and more informations and suggestions.

u can do the following:

1. CFD of compressor 2. CFD of turbine 3. CFD of water turbine and pump 4. CFD of car 5. CFD of Airplane

Pl. tell which is your areas of interest. CFD can be applied in aero, auto, electonics, hydraulics in general.

I would suggest you to write a solver and implement one high and low reynolds number turbulence model. Compare the solution with some commercial software.

By writing a code you would understand the why there are so many options are available in commercial code.

An undergrad education in CFD is...usefull... but be careful that you do not turn into a "code-monkey" i.e. someone that just press the buttons and hope something comes out.

In my opinion, CFD should be reserved for graduate students, with a proper mathematical base.
