Feasiblity of CFD model for Real-Time applications
Hello,
I would be grateful if you could explain to me the feasibility of a CFD model for Real-Time applications... say for example I have a CFD model a wing aileron in CFD format [numerical model ] and A physical component of an aileron, in a wind tunnel [Physical model] the two (numerical model of a wing wing + a physical model of an aileron) Have to be tested in REAL TIME the question is: - Would it be possible with a CFD model? - If not, why? and what are the possible alternatives? - AVL? S-Function [implemented in Matlb]? would they be better feasible than a CFD model? Help me please;) Thanks. |
Re: Feasiblity of CFD model for Real-Time applicat
Real-time simulation (including CFD) is already here in the video game industry. However, their modeling choices sacrifice accuracy for turnaround time. The other dimension concerning real-time simulation is hardware. Again the video game industry is ahead of us, using the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) on mid-range graphics cards to perform not just graphics rendering, but also physics simulations. GPUs require specially crafted code to exploit their parallel architecture, but the performance advantage over standard CPUs is significant.
