power input / output help
 

Hi,

I would like to find out how to calculate power input / output for a moving airfoil.

p(in) should be thrust * vel. -> should be quite certain

p_in = - Lift (L)(t)*dy/dt - Moment (M)(t)*d(theta)/dt ->

I got this from some papers, which is amount of energy imparted to the airfoil for it to overcome the fl
uid force.However, the case considered was for an airfoil moving up/down and pitching. What I'd like to know is if the airfoil is also moving sideways (left,right), will I have to add - Drag (D)(t)*dx/dt?
