Is it important to include hydrostatic pressure?

Hello,

I need a confirmation on something that bothering me. I am modeling a body under the water (not interested in the free surface). Is it important to include hydrostatic pressure?. Obviously i need it to get the correct buoyancy force, but in my mind it should not affect the flow. Am i right? (constant pressure gradient should cross out).

Regards,

N

You can see the difference between w/ hydrostatic pressure and w/o hydrostatic pressure. If there is no big difference, you can either set or not. And in case of inviscid flow, the hydrostatic pressure(gravitational effect) is usually ignored but in viscous flow, one need to consider it.

how important is it in the study of something like a submarine?
