It's a well established fact of FORTRAN being a accurate programming language. But the use of language depends on the objectivity. Today you can no longer restrict yourself to one language. Of course FORTRAN is the best for accurate and fast numerical computation because of it has all the mathematical fuctions as an intrisic functions whereas C has them as lib. functions i. e. SQRT(). Fortran is good if you intend to convert yout code for parellel processing. It is good for optimisation too.

Other language are good for GUI i.e. VB. VC++

So a mixed language programming approach seems to be a better solution
