Density based solver

Dear all, Please give me the major differences between "Density based solver and Pressure based solver"

Thank you Eswar

Re: Density based solver

Mass conservation is used to calculate density(DBNS) instead of pressure(PBNS).

Pressure Based Solver:

Pressure Information always moves with the velocity of sound. For incompressible flows(u<<c), pressure is a very sensitive variable and care should be taken to solve pressure equation. We are neglecting the variation density, and temperature variation due to density variation. So the equations are decoupled and we can solve it independently.

Density Based Solver:

If the flow is compressible, now the velocity informations moves with the reasonable speed comparing with pressure informations(u>0.3*c.. u>>c), and also density variation, T variation due to density, and pressure variation. So all the equations are coupled, velocity equations have more sensitive than pressure equation. Since the flow is compressible, we can derive pressure from the equation of state.
