I have used both fluent and Cfx. I feeling that Cfx requires very closer setups to achieve convergence. there is some difficulties in achieving convergence when compared to Fluent. Can anyone give comment on that.

Both codes seem to be capable of satisfying most CFD users general needs. However, please keep in mind: 1) ANSYS now owns both CFX and FLUENT, and will most likely offer up a "best of all" future solver offering, 2) at time of purchase by ANSYS, FLUENT had an approximately 6-7 times higher customer market than did CFX, 3) ANSYS purchased CFX some years ago equivalent valued around $20-30 million...they more recently purchased FLUENT for nearly $630 million (equivalent), 4) one of the original co-founders of FLUENT is now the head of the ANSYS "Fluids Business", in charge of all CFD development (CFX, FLUENT, and future solver offering), 5) the previous lead technical developer of CFX seems to have been focused almost exclusively on the K-Omega, SST turbulence modeling within CFX. If you were an ANSYS executive, which would you consider most important to ANSYS future bottom line? (Pleae forgive me if my numbers are slightly off...the underlying message is intact. Let's not debate exact $ amounts.)

Considering that you come from CD-adapco it is not surpricing that you prefer your own products. In any case I think that it is bad conduct for employees to try to market their own products on a free forum like this.

Duly noted, I was just stating a preference based on the codes I have also used (CFDesign, Fluent and phoenics)....feel free to wipe my message. I am fairly sure there are fluent, ansys etc guys on these forums too, I guess I just fell foul first...apologies

No problem, you are certainly not the first and probably not the last. Whenever I see employees advertising their products on the forums without any kind of warning who they work for I try to enforce this rule. Both CFX and Fluent people have done the same previously and have been notified of this also.

Fair enough, I was "advertising" the products before I even started working here (during my student days!) so I guess old habbits die hard!
