future of the CFD

as you know, cfd is being developed since 1970. this time, i want to know how the CFD is developed. as the computer performance is improved, it can be thought that DNS will be main issues. that is my thinking. I want to know other person's opinions. and what will be main issues?

Re: future of the CFD

I believe any regime won't be a main issue since an industry or academia doesn't focus on a regime.Rather than, many approximations will be reduced so that the simulation becomes close to a real case, not approximated. That is, the CFD will replace a real experiment which cost money and danger.

By the way, what is DNS? Do you know someone know that but someone don't know that. We, all in this community don't have common interest widely.

In short, the CFD will replace the real experiment to reduce the danger and cost required in.

Re: future of the CFD

DNS is Direct Numerical Solution for the NS equations. At present none of the commercial codes are capable of doing this.

Well, DNS shall not be main issue in the future development. Industrial demand is for making commercial CFD more user/application friendly, and hence is the thrust of development.
