I have a problem resolving energy and radiation on a reactor with a symmetry, I obtain two hot points ( some cells have a temperature 500° higher than its neighboors) on the symmetry surface and I can't make them disappear : what can I do? What is the problem? When I don't use a symmetry, i have no problem.

i tried a coarser mesh and seems to solve the problem, is there any explanation?

Thanks

How did you model symmetry? For radiation, this should be done by making the symmerty surfaces perfect specular reflectors (i.e., prefect mirrors).

Not sure what you ask here. Are you referring to some specific (commercial or not) code? My former post is general. How to apply it to a certain code (if at all possible) is another issue.

sylvain,

I suggest that you post queries relevant to Fluent on the Fluent forum.

According to Fluent documentation, specular surfaces are only treated with the DO (Discrete Ordinate) radiation model (unfortunately). Hence, symmetric BC may be treated only with this model.
