Log-law and the first node from the wall

Hi,
When simulating a wall-bounded flow with the first node inside the log-layer (i.e. 30 < y+ < 300), so that a wall function is used, does this mean that the velocity at this first node (or cell depending on the solver) is calculated by the log-law equation and not by the RANS + turbulence model equations? And it is then at the second node from the wall that uses the RANS + turbulence model with the first node velocity contributing to the answer in the same manner that when using a y+ <1, so that the first node is in the viscous sub-layer, the RANS + turbulence model equations are being used at this location with the no-slip condition wall velocity contributing to the answer? yes, this is how equations are solved at wall.
