Default Reversed flow

Hi, I am running a simulation of a blunt body at Mach 8 and a free stream pressure of 46606 Pa. I am getting reversed flow in 2 faces on pressure outlet 4. What could be the reason? The mass flow rate increased as the flow reversed. I have set the backflow direction as normal to the boundary and backflow temperature as 300 K.

A couple of guesses:

I assume that boundary 4 (in some code) is downstream and you expect outflow there.

If you have reverse flow where it's not expected, try moving the boundary further downstream. Add mesh points or stretch the mesh behind your blunt body.

Can it possibly be a 'transient' in your solution? That is, will running the problem longer allow the reversal to be swept out of the mesh?

Note these are JUST guesses. Good luck!

try to reduce the turbulent intensity at the outlet, is your outlet a pressure outlet ?
