Hi I am simulating forced convection in a cabinet mounted with fans on one side and opeing on the other side. With no resistance to flow inside, I could achieve good flow convergence but if I insert PCBs inside the cabinet, I am getting reverse flow at the inlet. What should be the problem ? Is there any way to avoid it ?

Hi Ashish,

I am getting the same results on my models when I do forced convection. Unfortunately I do not have a solution for you. However if you do find a solution I would appreciate it if you were willing to pass it along to me. If I discover a soultion in the interim I will let you know. I am searching the web for answers.

Thank you,

Jerry

Hi Ashish,

Reverse flow is a common phenomenon we can observe in forced convection, when there is an obstruction to the flow.

The reason behind this is , when there is any obstruction to the flow, the flow tends to deviate from the path. During such cases, depending on the pressures, there is a chance that the reverse flow might happen. This is commonly observed in high velocity cases of forced convection.

Best regards,
Pramodh
