Hi

I am trying to validate a 2D compressible solver. I have used the shock reflection problem and is considering using a boundary layer normal interaction problem from Schlicting(?). I want to use one more validation case but the thing is the domain has to be rectangular (that would exclude the forward step problem right?). Any ideas?

How about the sod cylindrical example? You can see it in the book titled 'Riemann Solvers and Numerical Methods for Fluid dynamics' written by E.F.Toro. That example is included in chapter 17. I also used this example to test my code.

If you are going for time accuracy you should at a bare minimum run a shock tube with a moving shock. Make sure you can satisfy the jump conditions and the shock speed. Another good case is a convecting vortex - you can use the results to get a good handle on how dissipative your algorithm is.
