CFD packages for ProE
 

Hi

I'm trying to help a small company to identify a suitable CFD package to bolster their design efforts (they currently don't use any since their design process is based on bench-marking existing products). They specialise in vacuum and solenoid actuated flow control devices.

Given their lack of experience with CFD the package should be as simple to use as possible. It should encompass CAD repair, mesh generation, pre- and post-processing and visualization in one interface. It must also be compatible with ProEngineer Wildfire models.

I've been researching the market and NIKA's EFD.Pro seems to meet all of the above requirements. Does anyone know of any other packages that might be suitable, or has anyone had any experience with EFD.Pro or NIKA's other products?

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

I'd suggest taking a look at CFdesign aswell. Should do everything they need judging by your description. They would be able to model the valve motion too, if they wanted to go that far. Depends what they are looking at doing exactly.

star cd check with them about their expert system that reads proE files

There is actually a pro/E plug in so you don't need to read native files as it works within the pro/E GUI, it uses STAR-CCM+

You seemed to have left accuracy out of the requirement list? Maybe it is ok for your client to reach the wrong answer as long as it is done quickly, but usually this is not the case. Having a tool that your client can not rely on maybe of very little benefit.

Ummm... I thought the need for accuracy was implicit.

Not really sure what you're getting at MD? Are you suggesting NIKA's EFD.Pro is not accurate? If so, please explain.
