Flow regime determination and Transition Modelling

Dear All,
So Far I was working on Fan performance, Now I am extending that work in to next stage.

I am in a situation to make a survey on the available turbulence model and what flow regime can be resolved. How to do that?

Please help me for the above,

Secondly,

We know CFD can deal with fully laminar and turbulent, the question is how far we can be done between these two? and how to start with?

I was thinking about flat plate simulation, am I in the right direction?

Please help me to solve the problem,

Thanks,
Aadhavan
