CFD modelling in a cleanroom
 

Hi...I am a final year student and I am doing a project using CFD modelling in a cleanroom. I am totally new to the whole thing. Can anyone give me some information of how to go about. eg. what books, equations, etc....I will be most delighted and appreciate if anyone can help me where to start from.

Good Morning Kian,

The best starting places with a final year project in mind would be your university library, recommendations from your project tutor and the manuals for the software you will be using.

Then your choice of books depends a little on the code you will be using. I'm assuming you'll be using someone elses software as opposed to writing anything yourself.

I found the following pretty good for starters: An introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics, the finite volume method. It's by Versteeg and Malalasekera who I think were (maybe still are) at Loughborough Uni. The publisher is Longman and it is readily available in the UK.

Dear Kian:

I am not sure whether you are interested in Bio-cleanroom or Industrial cleanroom (ICR). It's design is totally different. Let me know what's your topic? Airflow, Di-watwer, gas, constructioning etc?

Due to the IC & computer manufacturing industry is hot. we have many ICR here in Taiwan, I am writting a book in this area. However, itis editing in Chinese. There is a good clean room book for your ref.

Hi Kian,

we are a company called Flomerics who write a CFD code specifically for the building services industry called FLOVENT. Although our sphere is general building services engineering, many of the applications we get involved in are cleanroom or contamination control related. We have done projects for National Institutes of Health in the US, Merck, Meissner Wurst, Smithkline Beecham to name a few. I assume that you are from Glasgow University from your email address and I have had some interest in the past from Bill Whyte also at Glasgow.
