TVD time accuracy

I am currently using Yees upwind/symmetric TVD schemes to model a supersonic impinging jet and integrating in time using 3rd order Runge-Kutta. How can i ensure 'TIME accurate' simulations?

Re: TVD time accuracy

Dear Shuo,

If you running with third order RK in explicit mode, you are automatically time accurate, with the only constraint that your simulation would be lot slower due to conditional stability of RK3 arising from CFL criterion. Generally researchers overcome the CFL barrier by using implicit schemes, which however destroys time accuracy. It is then that you need to be more careful in ensurin time accuracy.

Hope this helps

Ganesh

Thanks for the reponse, Ganesh. I wanted to make sure it was time accurate. Shuo
