Cavitation model in compressible flows.

I am solving two-fluid flows which consist of gas and water. When I analyzed these, I had to put a cavitation model which detects the occurence of cavitation. For example, water is cavitationed if the pressure is lower than a vapor pressure. It is usually 0.05Bar. To include this model, I put p=MAX(p_EOS, p_vapor) in the code. It implies that the pressure in water is determined by a higher pressure between the calculated one and the vapor one. In doing so, I have sufferred from some numerical errors which provide incorrect waves. My question on that subject is that how we determine the speed of sound inside the cavitated region. Can anyone advice me to physically include the cavitation model in water field computings?

I have the same problem, did you find a solution?
