Archimedes Screw Turbine

4 Attachment(s)
Dear all,

I am involved with a university project analysing a performance of an Archimedes Screw turbine when fully submerged. I have no CFD experience. (originally, the project was supposed to be completed with physical testing, but is no longer possible).

I have tried to mesh a screw device that I have modelled in Solidworks, but I keep getting error messages when trying. I have attached various images outlining both the error and the parameters I put to try and create the mesh.

My final hope is to be able to test the performance of this screw fully submerged inside a pipe. For instance, efficiency and torque.

I would be very grateful for any help or advice you could give me for overcoming either the error or the project overall.

Many Thanks,
Shaun

Hi there, I'm aware you're new to CFD and CFX, you need to create the fluid domain around your screw first. Are you using Solidworks? If so, create the fluid domain by inserting your model into a cylinder and creating a cavity. Import into CFX and then mesh. I've a little experience of this particular problem, and might be able to help further
