One-way /two way coupling for particle
Hello everybody,
I am trying to simulate a flow with particle and a volume fraction of 4,3x10e-4. I just want to know which model I have to use, one way or two way coupling? I make some research and find some different rules, for example that for a volume fraction higher that 10e-6 the two way coupling should be used. Does someone know if this is right? Thanks |
It also a function of the relative densities of the two phases. If the solids phase is very dense relative to the fluid phase, even a fairly low solids volume fraction mixture will cause serious changes to the gas flow. Relative velocity of the phases is also potentially importance as the drag force increasely superlinearly with relative velocity.
I am not an expert in this area, but I'd recommend that you look at the momentum equations for the two phases. Throw out all of the terms except inertia and drag and look at the relative magnitude of those terms with representative flow conditions inserted. That should allow you to see which phase is driving the other or if the dynamics of both are coupled strongly to each other. |

I will take a look at the momentum equation, I think I will have to use the two way coupling because of the high mass loading of my flow (around 100%). |
