Hello all,

I am interested in the amount of usage of CFD in the Building (Services) Engineering field (indoor airflow). How much is it used? For what problems is it used? I heard that a normal office room/flat indoor comfort can be designed via excel sheets, and 99% CFD is not necessary at all. Is this true?

Unfortunately I can´t make a statement about the Excel calculation usage in this engineering field. I think the most important application for CFD is the "fire and smoke" analysis. Other points of interests are thermal comfort, the impact of HVAC systems (temperature and velocity field), particel/species distribution in the air, ...
