It is an interesting article. I think that the CFD sector will change a bit over the coming years. I think that Ansys will spend a lot of time and efforts to consolidate its aquisitions and get everything running in one track. I have heard rumours of different factions pulling in different directions at Ansys. This is not so surpricing when you try to merge old competitors (CFX, Fluent, ICEM, ...) with different new development teams already on the way to write their next generation flow solvers.

I think that this will give other competitors a chance to catch up and steal some customers. CD-adapco has a good position I would guess. There is some interesting trends to notice in the traffic statistics from CFD Online:

Here is a cut-and-paste from the conclusions:

In the last year traffic from both Ansys/CFX and Fluent has fallen significatly. At the same time traffic from both CD-adapco and adapco US has increased slightly. This is interesting and might indicate that the new CCM+ solver from CD-adapco is growing quickly and is taking some market share from both CFX and Fluent. At the same time it is interesting to note the growth of Exa. Exa is becoming a large CFD vendor, especially in application areas like automotive engineering. The quick growth of ICEM CFD traffic recently is also interesting and is probably related to the Fluent-Ansys merger.
