Taylor Couette Flow

Hello,

We are setting up an experiment to visualise the taylor couette instabilities(Flow between 2 rotating cylinders), i would like to know the boundary conditons for the annular region between the two cylinders at the bottom and the top.Are the annular regions at the top and bottom supposed to be stationary or do they also rotate with a velocity?I am asking this because in my design the bottom annular boundary rotates at the speed of the outer cylinder...Will this cause a significant disturbance in my flow?? Thanks in advance, Happy Hours, Ashwin.
