Laminar Velocity Profile over a flat plate
 
Hi guys,


I'm going to simulate the laminar flow over a flat plate. But I was just wondering about the velocity profile with zero pressure gradient. I know that Blasius provided a similarity solution and found the thickness as a function of distance from the leading edge. But how about the velocity as a function of the wall-normal distance. Is there a function for it? Is it for instance parabolic? Is there an exact solution for u as a function of wall-normal distance?

the solution is described in any good texbook of fluid dynamics, you can use the similar solution technique to express the unique function f(eta), being eta the transformed normal-to-wall coordinate
