Looking for software for hydraulics teaching

Dear friends, I want to know which CFD software is best for teaching of hydraulics. The software we can choose from are FLUENT, PHOENICS, FLOW-3D and CFDESIGN.

Thank you first for your help.

Yours Min

Re: Looking for software for hydraulics teaching

Could you please explain your question. You see, the old/classical term "Hydraulics" is used to refer to the study of the motion of Liquids, (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hydraulics), i.e. piping systems, pumps, hydraulic actuaters ..etc. If that is your intention then you have a good number of dedicated programmes for this applied branch of fluid mechanics (Dynamics) (Flowmaster, crane companion, ...........a very big list) But if you mean to teach the Navier Stokes equations, compressible/incompressible, subsonic, supersonic etc................ then any of the programmes you mention will do. The choice will depend on your budget. Good Luck PS. This comment is based on my own experience, it is not an endorsement, but, students, in general, have no difficulty in applying the tutorials that come with FLUENT, they like the programme because of its industrial acceptance, etc..the rest depends on you and the syllabus of your course.
