wind energy systems

Hi!

PLZ DONOT LEAVE IT FOR OTHERS, AS IT IS YOU WHO CAN HELP ME.

I was trying to analyse flow around a H-rotor, a type of vertical axis wind rotor. I made my rotor profile in gambit and set up the problem in fluent. I applied boundary conditions of velocity inlet, prerssure outlet, and farfield conditions. And I used K-epsilon turbulent model. I wanted to obtain the efficiency or power coefficient of the rotor. But the problem is that the torque coefficients, in the force monitor window section, were coming out to be negative.

I am really in deep problem,as I am not able to make any further progress.

I will be immensely glad and happy if someone of you suggests me solution to this.

PLZ DONOT LEAVE IT FOR OTHERS, AS IT IS YOU WHO CAN HELP ME.

THANKS!

Re: wind energy systems

I think it's just a matter of definition. It may be turning the other way round than you expected, while it's energy generation is still positive.

Otherwise you'd add energy to the flow and you's have a sort of vertical axis propeller. Check the speed just before and after the rotor to find that out. The rotor should brake the velocity of the wind.
