Hello guys. I have been conducting a research about the impact of waves on a semi-submersible platform. I started learning how to use OpenFOAM for my research and I already finished some simplified 3D simulations to get used to it. But I'm having problems with the mesh and the informations I find are quite confusing. My platform consists of 4 pillars connected to a square base, so it is not a very complex one. But I've been trying to create my own mesh with the blockMeshDict file and it constantly shows errors regarding neighbours cells. My question is: should I use snappyHexMesh or any similar tool? I am worried because I only have two months to finish it and to finish writing about it, I have been even thinking about trying Ansys Fluent but I also do not know if it would be a good idea. Sorry if it sounds a silly question, I am new here.

if i were you and had access to both these softwares,i would chose fluent every time.

If you are short on time, just use fluent it would be quick.

Thank you! Do you think it is easier to work with waves and turbulent models using Fluent? I already had IHFoam and learned how to use it, so this is my main concern.

in my opinion yes. But then it depends on person to person. Some people might prefer openFOAM.
