Modeling of contaminated sediment transport in lake\river
 
Dear All

please help me for the modeling of sediment transport
which model are used in such type of problems or send me paper,tutorials
i am using STAR-CCM+

Dear ramakant,
actually, I don't have any experience with Star ccm +. To my knowledge, star-ccm+ has a solver which couples CFD with DEM in order to compute particles motion in liquid. I would like to recommend this solver to investigate your problem. I saw one time presentation about particle transport in flow by means of Star ccm+.

Do you think he can solve the contamination for such large scale by particles? Ho many particles he needs to simulate? As you know,the contamination gets adsorbed to the sand, and gets transported mainly with fine sand, which goes into suspension load, or even more, with washload (because of its large specific area). Possible to simulated the suspended/wash load by particles for a lake of a river?

i want to know what are the parameter are required to model the contaminated sediment transport, what are the equation for the sediment modeling.

As it is large scale problem, the flow may be solved by shallow-water equations. However, it is the part of flow, how the flow gets solved more accurate, your sediment transport will be more accurate.

The sediment transport gets classified to two modes, bedload and suspended load. The suspended load can be solved by concentration equation (common transport equation). The bedload can be solved using empirical sediment formulations such as Peter-Mayer Muller, Engelund-Hansen, van Rijn, etc.

The suspended sediment and bedload intract by source and sinks term.

You need to know the spatial distribution of the contaminant. Moreover, you need to know the composition of sediment, as the sediment is usually graded. For each size of sediment, you need to solve a concentration equation, bed-load equation, and estimate the contaminant transport.

Which multiphase model are used for the such types of problem like Eulerian-eulerian and Eulerian-Lagraingian model are in STAR-CCM+. do you have any paper on this based on STAR-CCM+
