Dear all,

When do LES based simulations. what kind of problems will be resulted due to the use of coarse grid density? solution divergence or just wrong results?

If the grid density is the same to those used by a standard k-e turbulent model, what is going on?

Thanks in advance.

What kind of flow are you simulating?

Is this a plane duct? You will have to generate enough turbulence in your duct to get LES solution. Your grid should be fine enough to resolve some vortical structures within inertial sub-range. What is the size of your duct and how many CPUs do you have to run your problem??

Regards

thx. I just want to know some general information of grid-dependence issue in LES. This helps when I read some papers involving LES. If a pipe with a diameter of 0.04 is considered, what is the grid scheme best for the cross-sectional area of the pipe?
