2D test case validation in a 3D solver
Dear all,
The question I had was when we want to solve a 2D (@ x, y) case in a 3D solver, we give a 1 cell thickness in the third direction (say z), is it require to keep the cell thickness in this third direction within a limit. Or, while discretization, we have to do some special treatment for the third direction. The solver is in house 3D unstructured all speed solver. with regards, Ashwani |
depends on the way your solver is constructed

The solver is constructed for a general 3D test cases. Thus, has no special treatment for the 2D test case.

why don't you justt try
|
you can check by setting periodic condition in the third direction, using a small slice (a couple of cells)
