how to predict ball trajectory?

Hi,

Can anyone explains to me how can I predict the trajectory in Fluent? I totally have no idea coz' I am quite new to Fluent. Thank you.

Re: how to predict ball trajectory?

You don't need CFD for that, just use kinematics equations.

Re: how to predict ball trajectory?

The part you could use Fluent for would be to model the air flow around the ball. The solutions to the air flow could be used to create drag correlations and lift correlations and the like. Then those drag and lift correlations could be used in the kinematic equations to predict the trajectory.

If the drag and lift correlations that you have now are accurate enough for your application, then you don't need CFD software.
