New forum software preview
Further to the switch of forum software here at CFD Online that we have discussed previously. We have been working on this over the last couple of months and we are now slowly coming closer to a new forum setup, which will soon be ready for launch. Both the import of old messages and the basic layout of the new forum is now fairly fixed. We have a test forum setup here:

You are welcome to check it out. Please give us any feedback either by posting here or sending an email to

NOTE! This is a test forum with just a few test messages in it. The import of messages from our current forum will not be done until we launch the new forum and all existing messages will then be deleted. Feel free to register and test the new forum software. However, please be aware that we will remove both users and posts from this new forum before we launch it.

We still have a few things left to do. We are waiting for the release of a new software version of some parts of the forum and we are also investigating the possibility of integrating the OpenFOAM forum, which has been run separately previously. We also need to go throuh several details before we feel condifent to launch it publicly. I would guess that we will be ready to launch it within a few weeks, unless something critical turns up in our testing that we haven't thought about yet.

Re: New forum software preview
Yes it allows pictures to be attached or linked from other web-sites. These attached or linked pictures can be inlined with the message text. The new forum also allows latex functionality to write equations. For those who are familiar with latex it is also possible to draw sketches using latex codes - there is an example here:
