Michael G. is on a distinguished road
Hello,

I am a CTO at our company and I was asked to make a list of
recommended packages for:

1. CFD
2. Acoustics
3. Thermal
4. Static and dynamic analysis of buildings
5. Slope stability

I presume that 4,5 are a bit of off-topic here, but may be you can give some feed back. What do you think about Cubus packages?
I have no experience with this type of software, so your opinion is very important for me.

Thanks a lot in advance,
Michael

If high-performance or portability are important and you need to know what actually happens on every stage of the simulation (no closed black box apps) - you might take a look on our free and open source multiphysics software - Advanced Simulation Library.

Find the examples in the ASL archive:

1. CFD ( examples/flow/multicomponent_flow.cc )
2. Acoustics ( examples/elastic/acousticWaves.cc )
3. Thermal ( examples/heatTransfer/surfaceFlux.cc )

Hi
Guillaume Jolly here with TRAMPO.
1-3 if Ease of Use and fully featured is important to you : STAR-CCM+ by CD-adapco. You can find the reasons of this recommendation on my website (see my username above with .com at the end (sorry can't post URL on this site), navigate to the menu "Who we serve", then to "Not a STAR-CCM+® User Yet?"
4 IES VE is very powerfull but not userfriendly (bloated software, with a mix of ancient and cutting edge technology, which would deserve a complete rewrite). if you create your building geometry from scratch, use sketch up plug in.
Design Builder is pretty good, based on energy+ engine, less powerful than IES VE but easier to use.
Last recommendation: Sefaira, fast growing, but might not have all the features you need (yet).

if you need more info, send me a private message with your details.

Hi Michael,

OpenFOAM can do the first 3 for you with no licencing costs.

Good luck.
