core memory/ mesh size

Is there any method to link the number of algebraic expressions, matrix size to be solved in the post processor to the number of finite elements in the domain i.e. Mesh size. Also how is this related to the core memory that a computer has?.

Thanks in Advance

Oliver

Re: core memory/ mesh size

Hi,

A rough guideline is;

64 megs for each million cells (grid generation) *

1024 megs for each million cells (grid solving) **

* based on ICEM CFD

** based on STAR CD and FLUENT

hope this helps

Dave
