Hi,

I am getting an error (a clinch) when simulating the flow past a circular cylinder.

At the exit of the domain, a clinch (low pressure) appears when simulating a transient solution. This low pressure brings about all simulation to fail.

I don't know what's causing this clinch in the simulation.
Can it be an error in the implementation?
cant it be an error in the mesh?
Can it be caused by ill posed boundary conditions?

I am attaching some pictures of the results I am obtaining.
Proyecto9_2_2.jpg -> Velocity Field
Proyecto9_2_2b.jpg -> Pressure Field.

Best regards,
Hector.

Could you please provide more information regarding the type of simulation (incompressible vs. compressible) as well as the solution method?

Hi,

The type of simulation I am modelling is imcompressible flow.
The method I am using is the Finite Element Method, using the Characteristics Based Split Scheme.

/Hector.

Unfortunately, I will have to defer to other members of the forum to help you as I am not well-versed in finite element based solutions of the incompressible NS eqns.
