AVDR Simulation Transonic Compressor

Hi guys,
I am wondering if there is a 2D methodology to model the AVDR $\neq$ 1 in transonic compressor cascade.

How can I contract the stream tube in 2D? There are methodologies like mesh extrusion etc to do it easily with a 2D mesh by adding thickness?

Quasi-3D approach for solving stream surface of blade is what you are referring to. Look at reports UNSFLO from Mike Giles and Rodrick V Chima's quasi-3d turbomachinery papers.

Hope these papers will clarify the doubts.

By the way I need to create a continuous contraction of the z height of the mesh in order to simulate the stream tube contraction due to the AVDR.

Is it possible using ICEM to extrude the mesh in order to have a 2D mesh in the XY plane and variable thickness in Z direction?
