Hi,
I have started working in a small company where they asked me choose CFD and FEM tool for the work. We don't want to invest heavily on it because we are start up with limited funds. We have proposal from solid works fluid flow and Ansys. Ansys looks quite expensive so we are thinking to select some other tool. As far as CFD, we mostly work in the basic flow problem, conjugate heat transfer, rotor cooling, leakage and so. Mostly in the turbomachines but at the moment we wont work on blades, so general tool with good accuracy would be great . I have worked extensively in Ansys and I have no idea about other CFD tools. So If you could suggest something it will be of greatly helpful. Thank you for the suggestions. Kind Regards, Kumar |

What type of FEM simulations do you want to do? If it involves contacts I would recommend LS-DYNA. They also have a CFD solver but I am not sure if it supports leakage simulation, what I know is that it is great for FSI and conjugate heat tranfer. I also think it is quite cheap compared to some other solvers since all solvers is included in the lincence.
But it all depends on what you want to simulate. |
