[ICEM CFD] Problem meshing two indipendent but contacting bodies

Dear all,

in my geometry I have to separate and independent bodies which represent the leaflets of a mechanical valve in the heart. They are supposed to rotate with respect to an axis and I am going to simulate their motion through a UDF function in Fluent.

The starting configuration is in closed configuration (see picture attached - I only show the region of interest but they are contained in a circular geometry). When I move to the meshing process, the two bodies happen to be in contact in this position. When I rebuild the geometry I have used different tolerances but the software always considers the two contacting surfaces as one. The problem is that when I apply the meshing algorithm to get tetras, the topology of the mesh is not distinguished between the two bodies. Thus, when I apply my motion, the two leaflets seem to remain constrained the one with the other, connected by some elements.

Is there a way I can get rid of this problem?

Thank you in advance,

Fg.

EDIT: I have created a small gap between the two surfaces. The gap is of the order of about 0.01 mm. When I do meshing then I always get the same problem, so the two surfaces are meshed together - even if this time they are directly in contact. Is it because I have not chosen proper mesh size for curves?
