Dear members
I was running a Boussinesq equation wave model COULWAVE for regular waves over slopes. While running the model, the simulation crashes . I am unable to find out the reason for the crash of the simulation. The numerical scheme used is finite difference scheme. The wave breaking is implemented using Keneddy (2000) wave breaking model. I am enclosing the plot of the wave simulation at the instant at which it crashes. Please suggest the reason for the crashing by seeing the plot and what can be done to solve the problem. The plot of wave simulation is attached with the name Test.jpg. Thanking you your sincerely Karan Gupta |

What can be seen at your plot is that the solution evolves instabilities with increasing magnitude.
The solution needs to be dampened in your case. Then you have a lower accuracy, but a stable solution.
