Hello everybody,
i have a simple question since i'm new to turbulence: What is the difference between a high reynolds number model and a low reynolds number model? Regards |

Hi;
The main difference between the two is that high Re models are developed for regions far away from solid walls where the wall impacts are quite low. Therefore they need some corrections at near wall regions. Wall function is one common method to resolve this problem. on the contrary, low Re models can be used all over the flow field with no modification next to solid walls. Low Re models has higher computational cost comparing with high Re models. Since they need a quite dense concentration of the mesh near solid walls while high Re models needs less computational mesh next to the wall. because they use correlations (wall functions) to find the near wall flow instead of solve them numerically. |
