Dear all, I just start doing CFD study on the turbulent dispersion in two phase flows. Recently I read Dr.Alan D. Burns' paper and found the so called FAD model for turbulent dispersion force was established basing on Farve averaging. The author tried to split the transient drag force into a Farve averaged mean part, which is related with the Favre averaged slip velocity, and a fluctuating part, which is related with the Reynolds averaged fluctuating volume fraction-velocity correlations.

Does CFX/Fluent really perform Farve averaging instead of Reynolds averaging when determining the slip velocity? If not, how could we justify the reasonability of the FAD model when describing turbulent dispersion?

Best regards,
Pengyu SHI
