Hi CFD Users,
I have an interesting cfd simulation. However, I don't know how to deal with it. Can anyone help me? Suppose that we release a droplet underneath of a smooth glass (according to the attached image). There are some forces hindering droplets to leave glass and to fall down due to gravity forces, such as capillary surface tension or adhesion forces between droplet and glass. Is CFD tool able to simulate a simple model of these effects and this process? Thanks for any help and suggestion. Good luck and best wishes. P. Maroul |

Moving droplet on a surface is a dificult task, you need account dynamic contact angle. This task will be difficult to simulate. I saw a few works such simulation using commercial code like Ansys Fluent with UDF and I have seen some simulations using L-B approach.

I imagined, the VOF model is best model to simulate it. Could you please describe more about the L-B model? Furthermore, notice that the droplets flow underneath of the glass and not on the glass. Thanks for your kind attention . P. Maroul |

There are plenty simulations using Lattice Boltzmann approach. I am not a specialist in multyphase simulation, but I think that VOF is not applicable because this method not conservative for mass.

VOF is kind of conservative for my understanding , perhaps what you have in mind is Level Set which is not conservative in mass. So people have coupled VOF and Level set to make it conservative in mass. |
