fluent programmas

Hello,

I would like to ask you something.
In my work, we are looking to buy one fluent program in order to calculate the pressure drop.
do you know, which program is better ? we are looking between ansys fluent and pipe flow. but as I will work on the program, I am wondering in which program is more friendly to the user.
do you have another program in your mind?

If you only want to know the pressure drop, probably Pipe Flow.

Fluent solves the Navier-Stokes equations, which sounds like overkill. As far as I know, Pipe Flow is a flow network solver, much more crude but can get you your answer probably much faster and maybe even more accurately. For example, if you want to calculate the pressure drops in a city network of water pipes that runs for several kilometers, pipe flow would be the way to go.

It is not too difficult to write your own flow network solver using matlab/simulink or excel and vba. But both will lack a nice GUI unless you also develop it. All you need is some fluids know-how and some programming familiarity.
