Comparing between the Fractional step method and the SIMPLE method

Would you like to inform me papers which describe either the characteristics of fractional step method or superiority of it compared with SIMPLE method?

fractional step method uses generally in FDM and SIMPLE in FVM

in refrences says that fractional step is equal to PISO
