Dynamically increasing geometry during simulation of Additive Mfg in Openfoam

Hello everyone,

I am trying to build a geometry which increases during the simulation, analogous to addition of a powder layer after every particular number of time steps, to study the temperature profile of at all points (base layer to topmost layer). This would include addition of a for loop in a blockMeshDict file.

Most of the threads here only deal with dynamic/adaptive meshing of a particular geometry that does not increase the geometry size. A few papers mention another hack, that they build the whole geometry and use the technique of deactivation and activation of elements to behave as powder layers after time steps, but these have been done in other tools like ANSYS.

Is there any way to increase the height of the geometry adaptively during simulation by either of these two methods in OPENFOAM?

Thanks in advance,
NGA
