Hi there,
im thinking about the benchmark backward facing step: if a consider a distance from the step, the magnitude of vorticity in the wall will behavior in a region of growing of the vorticity going to the max value and then a region were the magnitude of vorticity tends to zero. Can i consider this second region, where the vorticity goes to zero as the region of reattachment lenght. thanks. |

I do not understand your question. In general, the reattachment lenght is defined along the locus of ponts of zero vorticity (3d and unsteady) but on a wall there is no general region for which vorticity tends to zero. At least for viscous flows. |
